She was my favorite as Pearl on 227. She laid a lot of track during her long career. My fave performance of hers was when she appeared as Ashtray’s grandma.

She was really good as Mrs Johnson (a role she originated) in the 80s remake of "A Raisin in the Sun". Her scene had been censored for 30 years (for reasons that'll become clear upon viewing the clip); the 1989 film was the first time the scene had been shown.
