Fans Thought 5 Seconds Of Summer Had Lost a Band Member

It's been more than two years since the world has gotten a new 5 Seconds of Summer album and after touring the world and being rather busy, Ashton Irwin, Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford and Calum Hood took a much-needed break. They have been busy working on new music that is promised to come out sometime in 2018 and they recently celebrated their six-year bandiversary.

looked at Ashton today as he tapped me on the shoulder and said ‘we’ve been a band for 6 years today’ and I paused as I realized I’ve been married for 6 years to 3 lanky Australians unintentionally. welp.

So naturally, fans were a bit freaked out for a minute after Ashton sent out a bit of a cryptic tweet that made it seem like one of the core 4 members might've left the group. Ash posted a throwback photo of himself and Luke and wrote "It doesn’t matter who comes & goes in this bands lifetime, we have always been here for the music, and as long as that passion stays alive, so will we" in the tweet.

A bit vague if we say so ourselves.

Half of the 5sosfam fainted by reading the first sentence

But after taking a minute to actually think about what Ashton could be talking about, he's most likely just speaking generally calling out fans who have maybe given up on the guys or those in their personal lives who have come and gone from people they once called friends or even former girlfriends. So no, no one is leaving the band and it's still Ashton, Luke, Michael, and Calum together in the group. And about that new music? Yes, it's coming and Michael even teased a little bit of what fans can look forward to when he spoke to Billboard in December of 2017 about the album the guys have been working on all this time.

"It's coming along really well. It's taking a really long time to perfect the new sound and direction we're taking. I think the reason it's taken so long is because we haven't just wanted to get it to a place where we're, like, happy. We want it to be perfect," Michael explained. "I think when all the new stuff comes out, it's like a departure of our old sound but it still keeps elements of all of the things we liked about it. It was just time for us to change. The studio's been awesome. We've just been slaving away, living in there. We're at a point now where we're almost ready to put out our first single."

So basically, prepare for your 5SOS obsession to come creeping back again once the new music drops this year. Theses guys are not going anywhere, just taking time off to create some solid tunes. Can't complain about that.
